San Jose
The self-proclaimed capital of Silicon
Valley, San Jose is the gorilla of the Valley with more than two thirds
of the total population. It also sprawls over 175 square miles. This is
a BIG city.
There are many new sub-divisions and the
character of the neighborhoods is quite varied.
San Jose has enjoyed a remarkable
renaissance over the past decade. The San
Jose Downtown Association has been instrumental in the
re-invigoration of the city. Check out their web site for information on
the performing arts, museums, nightlife, sports, dining and the other
events contributing to the liveliness of San Jose.
Housing is the most affordable in the
Valley, but has been increasing at a rapid rate. (See table below.) The
majority of the 282,861 housing units are single-family: 160,977.
