San Jose

The self-proclaimed capital of Silicon Valley, San Jose is the gorilla of the Valley with more than two thirds of the total population. It also sprawls over 175 square miles. This is a BIG city.
There are many new sub-divisions and the character of the neighborhoods is quite varied.
San Jose has enjoyed a remarkable renaissance over the past decade. The San Jose Downtown Association has been instrumental in the re-invigoration of the city. Check out their web site for information on the performing arts, museums, nightlife, sports, dining and the other events contributing to the liveliness of San Jose.
Housing is the most affordable in the Valley, but has been increasing at a rapid rate. (See table below.) The majority of the 282,861 housing units are single-family: 160,977.
