Palo Alto

Palo Alto is what most people think of when they hear Silicon Valley. It is the heart of the Valley: home to Stanford and venture capital, the two ingredients that created Silicon Valley.
There are 25,952 housing units: 15,538 single-family, 1,008 attached, 9,293 multiple units and 113 mobile homes. Many older homes and many expensive homes, but the city has limits against overbuilding on lots and height. One of the more expensive cities in the Valley, excluding the small towns like Monte Sereno.
About 25% of the city is devoted to parks. The streets are tree-lined and the city has great restaurants, coffee shops and bookstores.
Very big on the fine arts, much of it located at Stanford. There's a lot to be said for Palo Alto and almost nothing to be said against it, except for real estate prices, but that's endemic to the Valley.
